Golden Jubilee Refurbishment Works - the Church reopens

This has been a long journey. We’ve put up with discomfort, brick-dust and inconvenience. Perhaps more importantly, we’ve been unable to celebrate key moments of parish life (baptisms, first communions, a wedding, several funerals of dear friends ...) in their normal proper context. But I really believe our little ‘Exile’ in the hall will have been worth it (quite apart from the fact that it has forced some of us to change the habits of a lifetime and sit next to someone new!).

As you will discover, the building looks cared for. It feels more prayerful. It is better able to welcome our existing congregation and – crucially – visitors from outside who come in search of faith and friendship. Thank you everyone who has got us to this point – and everyone who has patiently put up with the dislocations of recent months.

Now a new journey begins, and it’s about much more than our buildings. It’s the journey to becoming what Pope Francis calls “a Church of Missionary Disciples” at the service of the poor and the broken, a sign of God’s Kingdom. Ultimately, our task is simply this: to turn our building into a vibrant hub from which the joy of the Gospel radiates. It needs the contribution and vision of every one of us.

Please join us on that journey and get involved.

There are some photos posted on the parish Facebook page, for you to view. Should you have further concerns please contact Fr. Rob or the Parish office.

Golden Jubilee Appeal - Fundraising update

As at the end of October we have now raised over £257,000, that is nearly 70% of our £375,000 target with over 30% Parish families having donated.

Based upon standing order donor commitments and planned events, we are still likely to be £80,000 short of our current December 2017 target. Hopefully the completion of the works will inspire those Parishioners who are still to donate to contribute.

If you haven’t already made a donation and wish to do so, you can contribute as follows:

  • Donate by setting up a standing order to commit to a monthly/quarterly/annual donation. Click here to download a standing order form
  • Donate online using our BTDonate donation page
  • Donate directly into the Jubilee bank account. Sort Code: 40 05 20 Account No: 01883852 Account Name: OLOL Jubilee Building Fund
  • Sponsor an element of the works such as a pew, the new tabernacle or altar. Click here to download a list of items which can be sponsored. If you wish to sponsor an item from the list contact the Parish Office by emailing office@olchurch.org.uk or telephone 0208 8398 2191 to discuss your sponsorship. Donations for sponsored items cannot be Gift Aided.

Donations from UK taxpayers should be Gift Aided as the donation can be increased by 25% at no cost to the donor. Click here to download a Gift Aid Form.

Once completed return your standing order and gift aid forms to the Parish Office. All donations will be retained in the specific purpose Jubilee Building bank account.
